EKTI CUP
Synopsys – Ekti Cup (A Cup) is an innovative & sensitive portrayal of insidious family violence, a burning issue that impacts the multicultural Australian diaspora. Deb is affable, accommodating person & enjoys a good relationship with his colleagues at work. Within the family, a different & very abusive person comes out on most mundane matters, till it starts to get out of hand. The violence and debasing of the mother, the wife and the daughter have a severe impact on migrant South Asian communities, with their world, life and wellbeing torn part. Following a Royal Commission on the matter, the Victorian Government has passed an amendment to the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, to engender a sense of belonging, togetherness, responsibility and fairness. When the woman is scared and fearful in her own home, it has a severe impact on the family, the community and the world around us. and the community. How does Sonya deal with it? How does the perpetrator react? The essence of the story & aftermath is enhanced by a theme song that heightens the impact of the film universally.
